El Ferdan Railway Bridge, the longest swing bridge in the world, runs from the west of the Suez Canal to the east into Sinai , opens most of the time to allow sailing ships to pass in the canal, and closes during passage of trains. 두 척은 남행이고 한 척은 북행이다. 첫 번째 남행 호송선은 매일 아침 시간에 운하로 진입해서 그레이트 비터 호수로 가는데, 여기서 길을 막지 않도록 통행 항로를 벗어나 정박하며 북행 호송선이 통과하길 기다린다.
